All about speed -maths

Speed is speed . We learnt speed through real life experiments .That is how fast someone or something travels . to learn speed , we have to understand a few concepts .[-------------------------------------------------] In meeting in the middle or running together at the same time and reaching at different times ,what is uniform speed ,the train tunnels .doing real life experiments really makes me understand the concept .the units are how many km/h ,m/min ,cm/sec. just like we did together in the experiment . we run for 1 second only and see the distance ran while catching your breath . it is fun to learn speed and understanding the concept in such a manner.timeline also helps to visualise every thing . -----[ ]----- the tunnel question is to find the distance by the speed and making sure that the train reaches the tail at the very end .

math(speed)

i leaned that objects travel a distance with an average speed, when two objects from opposite direction start driving to each other at the same time, the time they passed each other ,is the distance travelled by both objects added together =the total distance.

Maths

Not long ago, we learn speed by doing experiments. We learn that when two objects travel the same distance, the time travelled by the two objects is based on the speed and when the time travelled by two objects is the same, the distance travelled is also base on the speed of the two objects. We learn and have fun at the same time.

Maths

After the experiment i understand how to do maths speed questions better.I learned that when two vehicals meet, the time taken for each of the vehicals to meet is the same and drawing a model takes lesser time to solve a speed question.

maths

so sorry about before the title 'maths' i am not so sure and i accidentaly typed 'enter' anywa continued ........
eventually drawing a speed model made me visualize a speed question faster. It also made me save time instead of wasting time by reading a question over and over again. ~.~ ^.^

Maths Maths Speed

What did you learn about Speed?
ok.this is not hard because speed is mainly about
km/h , m/min,cm/sec .
To know what i have learn about speed is not hard,
but it is hard, when i have to apply it on problem sums and so on.
Still, i am willing to try and solve the problem for it.

Was this method of learning effective?
urm........
yes, i get to test this speed lesson out on our self and understand the concept of it.

How did the hands-on lessons help in solving word problems on speed?
it helps when we have to solve similar question on it.
Which happens quite often.

maths

i think the way i learnt speed by running made me understand speed better(collison,.....) it helped me understand what we were all actually finding the answers for. asically i just translate the experiments i did to the people in the question and the steps come right in my head. I myself got to admit when i first looked at speed , i thought that it was just the normal maths like (ratio, fractions, etc) but when i tried doing the questions , it was like "omg !!!what type of question is this?" eventually, by learning how to draw a speed model made me

Speed [Maths]

Speed is distance divided by time, which is km/h, m/min and others. Speed is also to see how fast a person runs. Having the experiment on speed, where we start at the same time, different distances and when running same distances but ending at different times helped me alot, as i could visualize easier. Now, i find speed easier than before.

Maths on speed

The first time i was introduced to speed, i was like ' so hard!!!' I find it very confusing and hard. I keep on getting wrong!!! After the hands on activities and the models taught by Mrs. Chien, i find it kind of simple. (for those question like two cars driving at opposite directions and how far apart is the towns.) so i tried the same method on other questions and suddenly, the questions seems to be easy all of the sudden. I understand my workings by listing which is the distance and others. the most helpful thing is a diagram i got it from a book.it helped me a lot!!! i start to like maths all of the sudden!!!
Distance- Speed x Time
Speed- Distance / Time
Time- Distance / Speed

Speed

What did you learn about Speed?

I learnt that speed is written in KM/H ,M/MIN and CM/S,
Distance is measured by Speed X Time taken,
Speed is measured by Distance travelled divided by Time taken,
Time taken is measured by Distance travlled divided by Speed,
And most speed questions are done with models.

Was this method of learning effective?

Yes.It makes speed questions much easier to solve.

How did the activities help you connect Speed to word problems?

The running activites we did outside( Race, Collision Course......)were helpful and informative. It also helped me to under stand these types of Speed word problems better.
Speed to me is easy after we did the experiment.I learned that a simple model can help solve speed questions. I learned also that speed questions are in (most likely this)two types , two object travelling towards each other eg. CAR-----><-----TRUCK, second, two object travelling together eg. CAR-----> . AT first , i did'nt know what the aim of the experiment
TRUCK----->
that Mrs Chien gave us but after a few explanations my team members gave me i understood it, and now I know average speed = total distance divide by total time

maths is cool

Maths is a average to easy subject for me... I thought I had gotten how to do it but when I try it out, I get so confused. So, I drew models! Models helps me to understand the question better when i do not know how to do the speed question. The way Mrs chien teaches it is also very helpful. It lets me actually experience it by letting us do some outdoor activity which is related to speed instead of being in class and dozing off. I cannot say that I enjoy maths but I CAN say that I enjoy hands-on activities. It makes me understand maths in a simpler way that is enjoyable too! This activity teaches us how speed works and what are the rules of speed. All the hands-on work really paig off as i now understand speed alot better.
